Requirements to meet CO2 monitoring

April 26, 2019

Hi All

Hope someone can specify the following. When the credit requires "Provide a control drawing sample showing the CO2 monitoring" - what is then meant by these "control drawing samples"? Is it sufficient to show the densely occupied spaces, PI-diagrams showing the location of the CO2 monitoring devices, and specifications?

Kind regards, Lise

Zero-lot line boundary

Zero-lot line boundary

September 19, 2018

Hi

One of my LEED project are situated in a MAster Site and the actual certified building will have a zero-lot line. Does this mean that the only vegetation we should count towards this credit is the green roof? Or should credit be part of the Master Site credits?

Kind regards, Lise

Commercial washing mashines i EU

August 21, 2018

Hi.

Have anyone found a commercial washing maschine in Europe, which meets the CEE TIER 3A requirements, and which can be documented? Miele can delivere a commerical washing maschine, where they can delivere information which shows that they meet the requirements, unfortunately they are not able to share the data with us on anything else than a mail, which I would be afraid is not sufficient enough for LEED.

Kind regards, Lise

Glycol for anti-freeze

Glycol for anti-freeze

June 1, 2018

Hi

In Denmark our chillers are located at the roof, where there in the winter is a risk of freezing. The refrigerant in the cooling units are ammonia.

I have not been able to find any answers in LEED v4 manual, but should the liquid used for anti-freezing the pipes (30% glycol solution) be included in the calculation?

Rc value

Rc value

June 1, 2018

Hi

To caluclate the Rc-value we need to know the amount of refrigerant and the cooliing capacity. As LEED v4 puts it:

Rc: Refrigerant Charge
(0.065 to 0.65 kg of refrigerant per kW of AHRI rated or Eurovent Certified cooling capacity)

Does this mean that the Rc value always must be between 0.065 and 0.65 kg/kW? For our cooling system we are using ammonia, which will have a Rc value of only 0.046 kg/kW, but all our larger refrigerator have an Rc value ranging between 0.95-2.1 kg/kW.

Does this mean that none of our refrigerants meets the requirements?

Min. 30% increase of ventilation rate - international

Min. 30% increase of ventilation rate - international

April 17, 2018

Hi.

ASHRAE 90.1 states that the design minimum fresh air ventilation of the Baseline should be as ASHRAE 62.1 or as ‘per building official’ which ever is higher but less than the Proposed Design.

So in our case - then our Baseline should be as per the local code (DS/EN 1752), which is higher. ASHRAE 62.1 says to use ASHRAE 62.1 values or local code whichever is more stringent - but do we consider more stringent to mean more or less fresh air volume? Considering LEED gives a credit point for 30% increased ventilation, presumably more stringent means more fresh air volume.

The thing I’m confused about, is that I know LEED review teams compare the LEED IAQ minimum ventilation calculator air volumes against the FAHU schedules and also the ventilation volumes shown in the energy modelling report (for the Baseline and proposed Models).  However, the ventilation rates for people and floor area in the LEED IAQ Calculator is fixed to ASHRAE 62.1  and the only thing you can change is the occupancy rates. So is there a risk that we may encounter problems in the future if the Baseline model ventilation volumes are higher than what is shown in the IAQ ventilation Calculator/ASHRAE 62.1.

And do the proposed design minimum ventilation rates (DS/EN 1752) need to be increased by 30% to get the LEED IAQ increased ventilation credit, or do they just need to be 30% above ASHRAE 62.1 as shown in the calculator?

How wide is the definition of coating?

How wide is the definition of coating?

January 24, 2018

Hi everyone.

We are checking the project written material of a LEED V.4. BD+C project in Copenhagen.

The developer chose the Option 1 of Low-emitting material credit and we only have to comply with low emitting paints, coatings, adhesives and sealants

Can you please help and explain how wide is the definition of coating? Is it only the last layer: lacquer, dust binder, wax, epoxy or is also the covering material: tiles, wood floor, vinyl, linoleum?

I apreciatte very much your help since is the first time we are going to build a LEED V.4 in our company. :-)

Best Regards,

Rita

Waste-to-Energy

January 9, 2018

Hi

Does anyone have experience with what documentation is actually needed to ensure that a Waste-to-Energy plant can be used? Is a letter from the Plantowner ensuring that the plant meets the requirements enough?:

"Teams must follow European Commission Waste Framework and Incineration Directives and the waste-to-energy facility must meet the applicable European standards based on fuel type."

WEc2 - Indoor Water - waterflow

December 20, 2017

Hi.

The LEED Baseline for public lavatory faucets is 1.9 lpm, which seem very low compare to what is on the marked in Denmark. But is actually do to the 30 sec. duration - so the actual flow rate is 3.8 lpm? And how can the public lavatory and the private lavatory maximum be so different.

Could anyone recommend any manufacturer who can deliver the 1.9 lpm?

Measurement period

December 5, 2017

Hi.

we willa s minimum share 1 year of monthly energy consumptions with USGBC, but when should this periode start? People are moving into the building, but it is not fully occupied and we are having some issues getting all the installations to work properly. So should the 1-year start from when our CxA have ensured that the installations works as they should? Or when should this period start?

Kind regards, Lise
