Hello all,

One of out project is pursuing LEED BD+C for new construction. The building has a open garden at level 2. Is it allowed for us to provide a designated smoking area there provided that area (not at Ground Floor) which is at least 7.5m away from any openings, freshair intakes to the building. Thanks in advance.

Can amenities inside the project building be counted in the Surrounding Density and Diverse Uses credit?

Can amenities inside the project building be counted in the Surrounding Density and Diverse Uses credit?

November 4, 2020

As per the subject, my project by nature is a semi-conductor manufacturing plant located in an industrial park with limited amenities located within 800meters of walking distance

However, the project owner has decided to provide amenities such as cafe, convenience store, clinic, and gym within the manufacturing plant building. The above amenities are meant for building occupants and can be open to public but requires the registration of visitors.

Can the above amenities (cafe, convenience store, clinic, and gym) which are located inside the LEED project boundary be counted as part of the diverse uses?

Thanks!

VOC content requirements for wet-applied products

VOC content requirements for wet-applied products

July 7, 2020

Hi All! Appreciate if someone can help with the following.

The reference guide states that for projects outside the U.S., all paints, coatings, adhesives, and sealants wet-applied on-site must either meet the technical requirements of the above regulations, or comply with applicable national VOC control regulations, such as the European Decopaint Directive (2004/42/EC), the Canadian VOC Concentration Limits for Architectural Coatings, or the Hong Kong Air Pollution Control (VOC) Regulation.

Is it acceptable if products are tested and deemed compliant in accordance with ISO 16000-3: 2010, ISO 16000-6: 2011, ISO 16000-9: 2006, ISO 16000-11:2006?

Thank you for your advice in advance.

Prerequisites Vs. Credits

Prerequisites Vs. Credits

September 17, 2019

Hi, I am new to LEED system and in phase 1 of applying for "Certified Level" of an Existing Building (EB); The gap analysis. Based on LEED-v4-EBOM, by the Energy Efficiency (EA) Section, the building does not comply with the prerequisites. Does it mean that we cannot move forward with the rest of the Credits if a Prerequisite is not met? Thank you for your help.

Water meter installation location

Water meter installation location

June 6, 2019

The potential way to target water reduction is by monitoring the water use for flushing. Is it necessary to install a water meter for each piping that goes to separate toilets? or we can fix one at the main water tank piping? Some of the water that is being supplied to the toilets from the water tank is also branching out for medical use.

Previously developed land

Previously developed land

December 17, 2018

Location: Malaysia

Project type: Warehouse

The project is located in a site that is previously developed where a portion of the land is already constructed (Manufacturing Unit) and another portion of the land which is the warehouse of the manufacturing unit is going for certification now, and both are owned by the same owner.

In this case can we consider the project site as previously developed land?

IEQ PreReq - Carbon monoxide monitoring

October 11, 2018

The pre-requisite criteria speaks of having Carbon monoxide monitors installed in each dwelling unit.

However, it is not common for dwelling units in Malaysia/Singapore to have such sensors, the dwelling unit will have electric cookers throughout with no fireplaces with open burning.

Are the CO monitors still a must?

Energy Simulation Baseline

Energy Simulation Baseline

December 17, 2017

Hi, i'm working on an office building of 95,000sqm using a District Cooling System (DCS). I am using the HAP E20 software for simulation. What should be the baseline of the cooling system be?

Based on Appendix G3.1.3.7, electric chillers shall be used in the baseline building design regardless of the cooling energy source. However, that would not be a fair comparison (i.e. Chiller vs. DCS) and the results would not be favorable. Kindly advise if an alternative method such as using a DCS (i.e. DCS vs DCS) as comparison would be acceptable for submission.
