Accidentally Opened Awarded Credit during Appeal Stage

August 12, 2015

My team member accidentally opened 2 awarded credits during the Appeal Stage for some other non-compliance credits. No changes were made to the form. Can we appeal to GBCI to no not penalize us for these 2 credits (that would result in an credit appeal fee of "$500 x2"? It was an honest mistake. How do I also go about this to appeal to the review team?

HVAC System 8 Baseline

HVAC System 8 Baseline

March 18, 2015

Hi all,

Currently I have a project in Malaysia that is going for LEED Core and Shell (2009), the project consists of multiple buildings but will be certified under one certificate. The project has 1 block of office tower (18 floors), 2 blocks of serviced apartment (28 floors each), 2 retail blocks (3 and 5 floors respectively).
This project will be using the baseline of System 8-VAV with PFP Boxes. Could you please advise what would be the baseline COP of the chilled water system? Referring to Table 6.8.1C in ASHRAE 90.1-2007, can I use the COP for “air cooled, with condenser, electrical operated” which is at COP=2.8?
My proposed design HVAC system is using VRV system or inverter multi split. However, based on clause G3.1.3.7, I must use the centrifugal chiller as my baseline. If this is the case, my building will not be qualified as LEED Building as it is very difficult for me to get the minimum 10% savings since my baseline COP would be 6.10.
Can you please kindly advise how can I get the minimum 10% savings if my HVAC is VRV system? Thanks.

Natural ventilation for residential

Natural ventilation for residential

January 21, 2015

HI,
The client requesting to have DX air conditioning system for each space in the building. My questions:

1. Could I use the sliding door as operable wall/window to supply the fresh air?
2. Do we need to concern about the fresh air to the other rooms which do not have the conditioning system?

Thanks in advance

Mechanical Ventilation using local code

Mechanical Ventilation using local code

January 20, 2015

Hi.

Is it a compulsory to design mechanical ventilation by using local code even if ASHRAE Standard is more stringent in order to score IEQ Credit 2: Increased Ventilation?

I got a problem to score IEQ c2 because of this. Although in IEQ p1 it showed that i have complied with IEQ c2 for all mechanical ventilation AHUs (by complete and uploaded AHSRAE Calculator 62MZ), but when i want to complete IEQ C2 form, it showed the opposite result.

Thanks
