Electric vehicles charging stations

August 25, 2023

I want to make sure if we include the EV charging in Energy Model ? As mentionned in 10499 - EV Charging in Model | U.S. Green Building Council (usgbc.org), all vehicles used for off-site transportation such as buses, commuter vehicles, or privately owned cars can be excluded. Any confirmation please ?

Thank you

Downstream Implementation of Analysis Outcomes

August 16, 2023

This is such a critical part of informing plan decisions in relation to the marketplace value or buyer acceptance. I am curious how value engineering exercise at the construction stage has influenced alignment with the plan certification exercise?

In our experience, retaining targetted points as we progress through the municipal approval process is sometimes challenging. Governing engineering standards can both help, but also hinder the built outcome of the plan designed thourgh the LEED ND lens. It is not a criticism but a curiousity as to how we adjust for changes in one of financial, social, and environmental parameters of the evaluation.

Relevant Trades/Contractors at Project Planning Stage

August 16, 2023

From a contract perspective engagement of the professionals is difficulty due to the contract and level of awarenss at planning stages. We have a challenge getting certainty of the key individuals taking part at the early design stages, meaning early stage training can be lost. Is there better LEED online tools or other methods of training individuals later in the process that could register back to LEED and affirm the training took place with the appropriate people involved?

Seed Evaluator Tool Effectiveness?

Seed Evaluator Tool Effectiveness?

August 16, 2023

Is the Seed Evaluator the best tool for measuring social equity?

A challenge for us in addressing social equity in plan development is engagement of the existing community is often not refelctive of our target audience for the redevelopment tenancy. What have others found are the most affective ways to draw influence in community planning work relative to equity?

Appendix 2. Default occupancy counts

Appendix 2. Default occupancy counts

July 24, 2023

Hi,

I want to ask about the default occupancy table. I'm calculating the building LEED Occupant Load. What would be the correct type for a space in a building that a portion of it is a health and fitness area?

The other portions were straightforward to be classified as a medical office, general office, and daycare.

Reference Appendix 2. Default occupancy counts LEED BD+C NC v4

Thanks

Does gravel count in "Total Paving Area"

July 12, 2023

Hi,

I have seen a couple posts about how to count gravel in a nonroof measure. However, I am wondering if gravel counts in the "Total site paving area" of the calculation.

My project will not have paved roads or acces, it will all be gravel.

Thanks for the help !

Carbon offset Canada

July 11, 2023

Hello,

I am looking to get carbon offsets for a projet in Quebec. Do you know any good Canadian carbon offsets company that is affordable and meets the requirements?

On green-e website, most of the companies are from the US. (https://www.green-e.org/certified-resources/carbon-offsets

Easily Achievable Where Mandates are in Place

June 15, 2023

This pilot credit is easily achievable where mandates and infrastructure (by municipality and/or base building in case of CI project) are in place. Future consideration should be made to incentivize (award credit to) projects in locations with no composting mandate as a two-year contract with a private hauler is required.

Advanced Metering NC Space Exemptions

Advanced Metering NC Space Exemptions

June 1, 2023

I'm working on a recreation center project that includes a daycare. The daycare space will not be fit-out as part of the project. From my understanding, we can exclude a small portion of the total loads from each end-use category, but can this be done for an entire space if the daycare makes up no more than 10% of the total connected load of the whole building end uses? End uses can be grouped by occupancy type, so can the entire daycare occupancy, which makes up ~5% of total occupancy, be exempt from advanced metering requirements? We will be following the whole-building energy simulation in the EAp Minimum Energy Performance, so if the simulation proves that daycare reresents <10% of total annual consumption then I'm wondering if it won't have to comply with advanced metering requirements. Metering is a city requirement.

Flooring Weld Rods: Document in which category?

Flooring Weld Rods: Document in which category?

May 23, 2023

Hello Leedusers,

Does anyone have any experience documenting welding rods used in vinyl flooring? While the product LEED letter shows that it counts as an adhesive meeting the requirements set forth in the SCAQMD Rule #1168, the product comes in solid form, 50m rolls. The v4/v4.1 LEM calculator requires volume (or surface area) inputs for all wet-applied products. How can we translate a solid adhesive into volume? Or would this be documented in the flooring category?

Thanks,
