Timber lattice roof

Timber lattice roof

July 18, 2023

Hi everyone,

For the calculation of the heat island on the roof of a building, we have an open terrace where a part of it is covered by a wooden lattice structure with parallel wooden slats.

This structure is probably in turn covered by a retractable textile. The question is, would the floor material under the timber structure (1) or the timber lattice structure (2) count for the calculation? Or in any case, the retractable textile to be installed (3)?

Thank you very much.

NC vs Schools

NC vs Schools

April 11, 2023

I have a client (university) that is certifying a couple of buildings with another company and they are doing it as BD+C: NC. However, they have contracted us for a new classroom building and we have registered it as BD+C: Schools. The question he is asking us is if the BD+C: Schools certification is necessary and if it has advantages/disadvantages against BD+C: NC. My question is if it is possible to change the scheme and if there are advantages or if LEED requires it to be BD+C: Schools?

LEED v4.1 ID+C: HOSPITALITY

March 30, 2023

Dear all,

I have a question related in the Option 3 in LT Credit:Surrounding Density and Diverse Uses.

In the Walk Score's web there are no result options in Spain. How can I proceed to elaborate this credit then?

Thank you in advanced.

Sincerely.

Unregulated Electricity Use

Unregulated Electricity Use

March 15, 2023

Dear all,

We are attempting this pilot credit but we are a little bit confused about the unregulated electricity input.

It's asked to input the unregulated electricity in the LEED Hourly Cambium, Demand Adjusted Energy Metrics Calculator for the baseline building. My question is, do we have to deduct the unregulated electricity from the baseline hourly electricity use in the calculator (otherwise, it's likely to be double-counting)? And for the proposed building, we will include the unregulated electricity in the hourly electricity use. Is that right? If so, the proposed building will have a disadvantage against the baseline building. I'd be grateful if anyone can clarify the reasoning behind this. Thanks in advance.

Project Boundary

Project Boundary

February 13, 2023

Good afternoon,

According to the LEED v4.1 handbook, if we locate the project on land where it was already developed, but our project goes a little over the boundaries, do we have to get for option two no matter how small it is?

Thank you.

Major Renovation

Major Renovation

January 30, 2023

Dear LEED users,

We are working in a renovation project which design a new envelope. This new design defines different project floor areas.

According to AppendixG-TableG3.1.5 Building envelope -Baseline building requirement F which says "For existing envelopes, the baseline buildings design shall reflect existitng conditions prior to any revisions that are part of the scope of work being evaluated".

So it appears a doubt so, we consider two options:

a) mantain the actual envelope with actual building; existing floor areas.

b) mantain the actual envelope with proposed floor areas. In this case the baseline floor area and proposed floor area will be diffent.

Which is your opinion? The right way?

Thank you so much.

Best regards,

Electric vehicles supply equipments

Would it be possible to count electric motorcycles as electric vehicles as well? Or, as electric vehicles, only cars and vans are valid?

Credits substitution to v4.1

Credits substitution to v4.1

September 21, 2022

We are trying to upload the evidences of a project to LEED online (v4, BD+C Core and Shell), but we are having trouble with those credits that pursue version 4.1. Despite credit substitution is marked in blue color and the Form is correctly uploaded to My Forms, we cannot activate the green check (ready for review) because threshold options are not complete. We do not see viable to complete credit thresholds because it refers to version 4 options, instead of version 4.1 options. We appreciate your answers in order to be able to upload the project to the platform.

Thanks in advance

Data Center load for Renewable Energy design

Data Center load for Renewable Energy design

June 20, 2022

We have a question about the energy simulation of a Data Center. We have completed the v4 Minimum Energy Performance Calculator introducing full IT and initial IT loads. After completing the calculator, we have obtained 13 points but we hope to reach 18 points with the contribution of photovoltaic energy.
As it is a Data Center, it will initially work with loads far below it total capacity. In this project, it is not feasible to pour the surplus electricity produced into the grid. Thus, initially, while the CPD does not operate at full load, energy will be generated and discarded. LEED establish a 50% improvement above baseline to reach 18 points, but it is not clear if we must use full IT loads or initial IT loads. We appreciate your answers in order to be able to design the renewable energy instalation.

Thanks in advance

locker roms

April 27, 2022

Dear LEED coach,

based on the All gender restrooms credit option 1 I had a consultation I wanted to make:

- If the project does sufice the expected amount of all gender bathrooms but as an addition it also has two locker rooms (m/f) with its own two toilets each, are those considered as part of the project toilets? or are they excluded as they are part of the locker rooms?

Thank you and kind regards,

Miguel Milián
