How to enter R-424a in the calculator form?

March 27, 2018

As far as I know, R-424A, also known as RS-44, is a blend of HFC125, HFC134a, and others...

¿How should I work with this refrigerant in the sample form?

Proving compliance with other 3rd party tests

March 5, 2018

Hello,

I am working on a project in Spain and we are having trouble finding materials that comply with the requirements (especially paints). Most of the providers don't have a General Emissions Evaluation like the ones specified in the third party certifications matrix. (https://www.usgbc.org/sites/default/files/Low%20Emitting%20Third%20Party%20Certifications%20and%20Labels%20June%202017.pdf)

One of our providers has a product with the TÜV mark, that is, certified under the TÜV SÜD test standard "TM 07 Dispersion Pains". This standard is based on ISO 16000-9, which is one of the accepted test methods for projects outside the U.S. And the standard tests the product under 7 days instead of 14, which is more strict that LEED. On the other hand, the formaldehyde limit on this test is 100μg/m³ which is higher than the CPDH test (I think it is 9μg/m³) but the maximum detected was 6μg/m³ after 3 days and 4μg/m³ after 7 days. So, will this comply with credit requirements or should we find other products tested under the specific standards listed in the matrix?

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,

F. Borja

Defining a product

Defining a product

February 21, 2018

Dear Mr Mrs,

I would like to know if for pilot credit Material multi-attribute assessment in LEEDC&S v3, should I take into account different products selection as is mentioned in LEED C&S v4 for materials and resources, credit environmental product declarations?

For example, I have a material which has an EPD and it is used for SOLAR PROTECTION in facade. The same material with the same EPD it is used for ceiling cover in the main hall of the building. So, as I understand because the same material it is used for two different functions I could count as double product, so it would count twice for pilot credit Material multi-attribute assessment in LEEDC&S v3.

Can someone confirm if this assumption is correct?

Thanks a lot

Kind regards

Kitchen faucet for restaurant project

Kitchen faucet for restaurant project

February 8, 2018

Hi, we want to certify a restaurant and as described in the reference guide: commercial kitchen (food service) sinks and prep sinks, including pot filling sinks, wash-down, and cleaning sinks can be excluded from calculations. But my doubt is, if we want to know how much water consume these type of faucets because we want to reuse it as grey water, how many uses shall I take in count for these elements? The guide says 1 use per employee and day, but it seems to low for me for a restaurant, can I estimate my own uses per day or is there any reference to look for this data.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Transportation rate threshold between 45% and 50%

Transportation rate threshold between 45% and 50%

February 2, 2018

Hi all,

I am pursuing option 2 of this credit- using a survey to monitor alternative transportation methods. After having calculated the rate using the alternative transportation calculator, I arrive at a 48.2% ATR.

My question is, should I expect this number be rounded up to 50% to achieve the 11 points or will it be rounded down to 45 to achieve 10 points?

Thanks,

Laura

hola, en un ensayo de emisiones COV, ¿el formaldehido se debe tener en cuenta? Un suelo técnico formado con una madera encapsulada metalica, debe cumplir el test CPHD?
Gracias.

Selling renewable energy

Selling renewable energy

January 25, 2018

Our project has a photovoltaic array that generates electricity which it´s sent totally to the grid, not being consumed directly in the building. This electricity it’s not sold to a specific user, it´s purchased directly by the utility provider.

In this case, can this renewable energy production count for this credit? And/or can it count for Optimize Energy Performance credit? At the end, this sold energy should be understood as a discount for the total amount of energy purchased in the project.

MRp2 & SSc2

January 18, 2018

Hi there.

I have a question regarding identifying the LEED project boundary as it relates to rainwater management.

The project we are attempting to certify is a building located on a two-building business park.  These two buildings share the landscaped area, plaza and underground parking although they are separate buildings.  We are attempting the rainwater management credit and from what I understand, I am to include the hardscaped footprint of the other building in my calculations (i.e. include the roof of the other building we are NOT certifying into the total hardscaped area of the project site).  Other responses regarding the LEED project boundary state that we should exclude buildings that are not attempting certification from the project.  In this case, considering the building footprint is used in SSC2´s hardscape calculations, should I include it in the project boundary?

Thank you!

Laura
