Under the latest Addenda issued November 9, 2020 (https://www.usgbc.org/leedaddenda/100002448), do you agree that the requirements on waste streams under Option 1 has been removed completely and to achieve the 1 point, the project needs to only follow the CWP and divert at least 50% of the total construction and demolition materials from landfills and incineration facilities?

Meet Credit Requirement by table- 1st building occupancy

November 20, 2020

Hi Elliot,

We have a 20 Hectare site with 600+ units that is designed to meet the Solar Orientation credit requirements. We are expecting to have more than 85% of our blocks within 15 degrees of geographical east-west. However, in Table 2, on page 25 of the reference guide it suggests that the credit must meet the requirements by the time the 1st building is occupied. Does this mean that if our schedule has one of our first 4 buildings to be occupied being built north-south that we won't achieve the credit?

This seems like a strange timeline requirement for a neighborhood wide credit.

EV parking space distribution

EV parking space distribution

November 11, 2020

Our project has both employee parking and visitor parking. LEEDv4 specified that EV parking needs to be "distributed proportionally among various parking sections (long-term & short-term", yet I do not see this specification in LEEDv4.1.

Does anyone know if EV parking spaces must be proportionally shared between long and short term parking, or do we have the liberty of favouring one one over the other?

MRc2 Backup Documentation

November 3, 2020

Hi there, thanks for looking into my question.

I am working on a project where we have recieved this letter as backup documentation with a contractor log and hauler log of pickups but no additional documentation(weigh bills, invoices, truck numbers or tickets). Will this be acceptable to CaGBC?

Letter

Please accept this letter as confirmation that all broken Concrete/Asphalt and rubble materials from GFL, have been accepted for the purpose of recycling. All disposable loads are carefully inspected prior to dumping. We accept only cleaned Concrete/Aspalt from sites that are controlled in accordance with soils consultants and general contractors.

During the course of the year, we receive loads of broken Concrete/Asphalt for recycling at all of our location. This material is then reused but not limited to road way base, parking lots and driveways. The average weight of concrete and asphalt loads is 20 metric tonnes.

Sincerely,

VP

USGBC approved equivalent to EPA registered pesticides

USGBC approved equivalent to EPA registered pesticides

October 30, 2020

I am preparing the O&M manual as part of credit Non-toxic Pest Control for LEED V4 for Homes. As part of the manual we are instructed to provide an integrated pest management policy which is to cover the use of pesticides. The manual had recommended using a USGBC approved list equivalent to the EPA registered pesticides for international projects, I am in Canada, but I can find no such resource.

Number of Certified Buildings

Number of Certified Buildings

October 8, 2020

Hi Eliot,

The LEED ND form states that "project includes at least one building, in addition to the building documented under GIB Prerequisite Certified Green Building, that will be certified through a LEED rating system, or through a green building rating system requiring review by independent, impartial, third-party certifying bodies that have been accredited by an IAF-accredited body to ISO/IEC Guide 65 or, when available, ISO/IEC 17065."

Does this mean that in a large scale project with multiple mixed-use buildings and townhomes that the first certified building will not contribute to this credit? For instance, if a project had 1,000,000 sft of buildings, and intended to only certify the largest building, which was 200,000 sft, would that not contribute to this credit as 20% for 2 points?

Cheers,

Tim

AIA Re-occupancy Assessment Tool - Health Canada equivalent?

AIA Re-occupancy Assessment Tool - Health Canada equivalent?

October 6, 2020

We're working on an office building in Ontario pursuing LEED ID+C and I hoped to present this Pilot credit to our client as a reasonable COVID-19 safety strategy. Since my client is federal govt, they would be inclined to use a Health Canada resource rather than CDC. Does anyone know if the Health Canada Risk mitigation tool for workplaces/businesses operating during the COVID-19 pandemic might be accepted as a regional equivalent to the AIA Re-occupancy Assessment Tool?

This is a link to the tool:

Which buildings need to be modeled?

September 29, 2020

Hi All,

The following is noted in the reference guide after Option 2:

AND For new single family residential buildings and new lowrise multifamily buildings, 90% of the total building floor area must meet the requirements of LEED for Homes v4 EA Prerequisite Minimum Energy Performance.

Is this required for all Options or just Option 3? Our project has four 4-storey or higher buildings and 30+ townhome buildings under 600 m2. All of our multi-residential and mixed-use buildings will follow Option 1, but the reference guide is quite unclear about the ramining buildings. Can someone confirm if these other buildings require

Average daily visitors calculation

Average daily visitors calculation

September 29, 2020

Hi,

I’m working on a ID+C commercial interior project (V4) that consists primarily of transforming the interior of a base building into a center that combines the functions of a library, cultural center, and social and community spaces.

I’m not sure what would be the best way to estimate the average daily visitors. In the Functional and Technical Program, I have access to a summary table of areas. Also, some space as a define number of seats. No occupancy number is precise.

Would that be the right way to proceed to take the number of seats and assumed that it is the number of occupants for those spaces and calculate the balance (for the other rooms) with the Default occupant density from ASHRAE 62.1-2010, Table 6-1 ?

Thank you,

Emilie

Extraction distance to factory and distance from factory to construction site.

Extraction distance to factory and distance from factory to construction site.

September 29, 2020

Hi, I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding exactly what distance they're asking for. It may sound like a bad question but it's an itch I need to scratch.

So we call steel from a supplier, this supplier calls it from his manufacturer.

When they ask for ''Extraction distance to factory'' do they mean:

1- The distance between the manufacturer and our factory

2- The distance between the manufacturer and our supplier

3- The distance between our supplier and our factory

The they ask for ''Distance from factory to construction site.'' is it:

1- The distance between our factory to the site.

2- The distance between our supplier and the site.

I apologize in advance if this is confusing, my documentation is in french and this is all just my bad translation of it.
