Appendix 2: Default Occupancy Counts

April 22, 2020

I am working on a Community Center that has been registered for LEED BD+C NC. The occupancy estimate of our project is currently unknown, and I am unable to reference a default occupancy count from Appendix 2 since there are no numbers provided for community / recreation facilities. Could someone point me in the direction where I could obtain this data?

Controller efficiency no longer available to demonstrate irrigation water use reductions?

April 15, 2020

Hi all

it seems that controller efficiency (CE) no longer is allowed to be used in calculating design irrigation water use in V4/4.1 for this credit.  Is that your understanding?  If I'm wrong on this, please point me to where it shows me how to enter the relevant controller information.

Thanks.

Wood donation tracking

Wood donation tracking

March 4, 2020

Hi All,

We are working on a new construction project in a remote location with no access to recycling facilities. We came up with a plan for donating our wood waste to the local first nations band, but I'm not sure what documentation the CaGBC/USGBC will need in terms of 'end use' and load tracking documentation. Can we just get a statement from the band saying they are accepting a donation from us and what the weight of the material is, or do we need more information on what exactly they are doing with it? They may not know what they will be using it for just yet.

Thanks!

Are MDF and Particle board covered under this prerequisite? Do they have to be FSC certified to be compliant with MRp1?

VOC limit of Aerosol Adhesives

February 11, 2020

Hi All,In LEED v4 and 4.1, is there a limit on the VOC content of aerosol adhesives, and if so what is it? What is the applicable standard or regulation that governs aerosol adhesives, and within the applicable standard or regulation, what's the VOC category?

Introducing open-office plan..!!

January 28, 2020

Hey,
Our company is planning for an open-plan office to encourage collaboration and to promote transparency. But we have found few drawbacks to this open-plan office because,
> There won't be sufficient privacy in open workplaces. At the point when individuals need to have a private discussion or to invest some time working uninterrupted, it won't be possible in an open office.
> Open workplaces will be excessively noisy and distracting.
So we are searching for a solution to maintain the drawbacks that come with an open office. A few experts proposed introducing a glass partition walls as a superior arrangement. However, we have a few concerns regarding the glass walls. So that's the reason, I'm here today. Can glass walls fulfill the need of privacy without making people feel completely shut off from the rest of the office? What about spaces that need some visual privacy?

Exterior slab with radiant heating

Exterior slab with radiant heating

January 14, 2020

I am working on a project in Quebec (where there is a lot of snow) and the client has requested a radiant heating system for an exterior concrete slab that links a ramp to an ambulance garage (to avoid having to mandate a snow removal company). I am wondering if that energy use is considered "process load" and shall be identical in the two scenarios (referenced and proposed), or if it should be taken as regulated energy.

Thank you in advance !

Interpretation of the Net usable program area for area calculations

January 14, 2020

"Net usable program area" is defined as follow : the sum of all interior areas in the project available to house the project's program. It does not include areas for building equipment, vertical circulation, or structural components.

Does that mean we have to include rooms that are supporting the building's program ? As an example, that would include : recycling alcoves, handwashing stations, toilets, medical equipment storage room, maintenance equipment storage room ?

 Thanks in advance !

Material Ingredient Reporting: Most efficient program to use for Site Furnishings

January 9, 2020

Hello, we are a site furnishings manufacturer with the intention of ensuring our products can qualify for usage under multiple LEED credits.

We are hoping to receive any guidance regarding the MR Credit: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization - Material Ingredients

Under both Option 1: Material Ingredient reporting, and Option 2: Material Ingredient Optimization, there are several programs that can be used to demonstrate the chemical inventory of our products.

We are looking for the most applicable (and cost-effective) program that would suit our products, and would be most grateful for any advice on this subject.

Thank you!

Ryan
