Re-used Furniture Eligible for Local Multiplier?

September 20, 2019

Hello,

We're working on a LEED v4 Healthcare project that is pursuing the Furniture credit and I'm wondering if re-used furniture would be eligible for the local multiplier of 200% its value?

My initial reaction is that it would. The project is an addition to an existing hospital and while we will be procuring the majority of furniture we're going to be reusing a substantial amount as well. Since that reused furniture is coming from the hospital would it not be considered locally sourced?

Ultimately I'm aware that the July v4.1 states locally sourced furniture is valued at 200% so we could just upgrade the credit but I was curious if my assumption would be valid for v4 as well.

Exemption of Tenant Space

Exemption of Tenant Space

August 28, 2019

We are working on a project that is primarily a nursing home but there is a tenant space on the ground floor that is about 15% of the building. The tenant is required to put in their own HVAC system for their space.

Is our project considered to be "mixed-use"?

Should we claim that this area should be exempt from this Credit requirement or should they have to meet this Credit requirement (and include it in part of their lease agreement)?

Split System AC in an existing building

Split System AC in an existing building

August 14, 2019

We are working on a major renovation project that contains several split system AC units which will be replaced.  The owner doesn't have any record of the refrigerant volume that was charged for these units.  is there any guidance for how we calculate (or estimate) the refrigerant charge per ton for this equipment?

APPA Room Type Definitions

August 9, 2019

Hello,

We are working on a building recertification to EBOM 2009 and are having difficulty tracking down the room definitions according to APPA. Would anyone be able to define the following room types?

  • Break
  • Conference (do these include meeting rooms?)
  • Common Area (do these include reception areas?)
  • Lobby (do these include elevator areas on each floor or hallways?)
  • Medical (do these include labs?)
  • Storage

Many thanks in advance.

Alexis

SSc4 Surveying Staff Throughout Building

SSc4 Surveying Staff Throughout Building

August 9, 2019

Hello,

We are looking to complete an alternative commuting survey at a building owner and the property owner has suggested that we tour the building, visiting each office and survey people in their workplace to increase the response rate. This seems rather unconventional and I'm wondering if this would be accepted by LEED. I assume we could still apply Approach 2, asking every other individual to reach our sample size.

Have others applied this approach? Would it be acceptable?

Many thanks in advance!

LEED V4.1 EBO+M Minimum Program Requirements

LEED V4.1 EBO+M Minimum Program Requirements

August 7, 2019

I cannot verify that LEED V4.1 EBO+M requires fulfillment of the usual MPRs that have been required for previous versions (permanent location, site boundaries, etc.). V4 does use these MPRs for EBO+M, so I'm wondering if they are the same for V4.1. So far I can't find anything to specifically say that they are being used for V4.1 as well. The project I am working on does comply with the LEED MPRs.

Can anyone confirm that whether they are part of V4.1 or not?

Systems Narrative Template

Hi,

I'm wondering if I can use the same BAS System Narrative Template from V2009 for V4.1?

Thanks,

Ben

Data Storage Requirement

Data Storage Requirement

July 18, 2019

Hello,

Most digital metering systems with remote access capabilities have a cloud-based system were data can be stored indefinitely, or until the meter becomes inactive. Looking for clarification of whether or not cloud-based storing meets the requirements of ‘the system must be capable of storing all meter data for at least 36 months’, or if the meter device on site must also store data?

Any insight is appreciated.

What is the lowest flow shower you've come across? The lowest we have is 5.7 LPM (1.5 GPM).

LEED ND v4 Pilot Credit Integrative Process - Participation in the Forum

July 15, 2019

As part of the requirements for this pilot credit, we are noting our participation in the Forum for a project located in Montreal that aims the LEED ND v4 certification.

Since our project is in the early stage of the design phase, is a letter signed by the client and the mechanical eng. indicating that such meters will be integrated to the buildings at the proper phase could be enough to be compliant to this pilot credit?

Thank you for you time,
