Laundry Room not intended for housekeeping activities, chemical storage, mixing, or disposal.

September 21, 2017

Hi everyone,

1. Our project has a laundry room inside of an office space which is not intended for housekeeping activities, chemical storage, mixing, or disposal.

Is physical separation, separate exhaust, and a sink/or drain required?

If not, will a narrative describing that the room is not intended for housekeeping activities, chemical storage, mixing, or disposal be sufficient?

2. Also does a room that has chemical mixing and access to a sink/drain in another room (ex. janitor room) need a sink/drain?

Thank you!

Option 2 Budget Calculation - Mechancial Adhesives and Sealants

September 21, 2017

If pursuing the budget calculation method, how do you capture the layer surface area for mechanical products such as duct sealants, pipe sealants, firestop, etc. that are used in mulitple areas over a small surface area? These products also potentially fall under multiple assembly types, so if there is more than one which is to be chosen?

Option 2. Third-Party Utility Reporting (1 point)

September 12, 2017

Hi,

I'll soon be the proud owner of a small house in Quebec, Canada and I need clarification on this Option 2 of th Advanced utility tracking. It says:

"The homeowner must share all applicable utility data with USGBC via a USGBC-approved third-party before the project team submits its application for certification."

Does that mean a one time transmission of the starting data? Or a periodic and automatic transmission? And what are the "all applicable utility data"? Home size, type of energy used, type of heating/cooling equipement etc.?

Thank you all for your time,

Robert

Different route numbers on same route

Different route numbers on same route

August 31, 2017

Hello

A couple questions:

Do I count the total number of stops in one direction listed by the transit authority? Or the number of stops starting from the nearest stop to the project to the last stop before the service turns around?

Also
If two routes share the same path, (Example one route number is for express travel, and the other route number adds more stops to the previous route number) Can I count both? Or choose one? Can I chose the route with the most stops?

All the best

The Reference Guide shows 1-5 points are available for this credit under the Hospitality and Healthcare rating systems. Is it explained anywhere how the variation of points is awarded?

Heated Bus Storage

Heated Bus Storage

August 28, 2017

Hi,
I am trying to work out the best way to model a heated (cold climate) bus storage facility in the baseline. The proposed has supply fans and exhaust fans with heat recovery and a heating coil to keep temperatures 50F. It also has purge fans that are modeled for a few hours a day when all the buses are traveling due to emissions. My proposed approach was the system in the baseline as Heating Only Storage (system 9) and then model the purge fan as process (like car parking fans). However i have a dilema as the baseline fan energy is significantly lower - primarily due to the 0.3W/cfm rate. The proposed is significant more that this (heat recovery/filters for emissions) and the baseline does not seem to have the same allowances that the other systems 3-8 have to add on. Any one have any thoughts or come across this before? It seems i am stuck in a sticky situation of being half parking garage / half heating only storage and am being penalized for it right now.

Construction Activity pollution prevention inspections

Construction Activity pollution prevention inspections

August 17, 2017

Hello.
I am working in a project that has the Erosion and control plan following the CGP 2012(LEED V4) , part of the plan is to have weekly inspections on site to review how the erosion and control follows the specifications.

The CGP says that a qualified professional needs to be in charge of the site inspections. We are not sure of what does mean. Does it need to be a Civil Engineer,an Environmental professional or anyone can do it?

What kind of training needs to happen to be considered a qualified professional?

Now our Environmental manager is doing the inspections but we are worry when she is not available(vacation/sickness) if any other person can do the inspections and it is valid to LEED or LEED doesn't care who does the inspections only that they are done?

Thank you

Irene

Occupant Comfort Survey

Occupant Comfort Survey

August 3, 2017

Is there a minimum duration after occupancy you must wait to conduct the occupant comfort survey? I want to submit the IN credit with the first construction submittal but don't want to have to wait for 6 months. I was thinking 3-6 weeks after occupancy would be acceptable? Time enough for the occupants to get settled and identify the kinks?

LEED v4 CxA

In LEED v4, the CxA for Enhanced Commissioning must be independent of the design and construction team- but what if the construction team is also the owner, as in design-build?

Building Type not listed in Default Occupancy Table

Building Type not listed in Default Occupancy Table

July 29, 2017

I am working on a justice centre (court house) project here in Canada and am wondering which occupancy type to use. The closest building type listed in Appendix 2: Default Occupancy Counts would be a general office. However, there will definitely be transients coming to this building, so I don't think that would be fair.

Has anyone got any advice on how to determine the occupancy on this project? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
